Zhenia is an activist in the Ukrainian Students for Freedom. He hails from Khmelnytsky but has been studying in Lviv for three years now. Initially, he enrolled at the Ukrainian Catholic University to major in Political Science, took an academic leave to undergo the formational program of the Ukrainian Leadership Academy, and has now, motivated in part by the USF, advanced to the second year of his studies at the university. He preaches the ideals of freedom everywhere: in personal conversations and during lectures and seminars at the university.
«For me, freedom, first and foremost, is about responsibility. I am free not only to do something but also to act under societal rules. However, this doesn’t make me a captive of others’ demands. I try to live in harmony with myself and with society. I believe this is a consensus in an era when neither communism nor liberalism have proven to be universal and infallible ideologies».
